Mini Pupillages

At Two Harcourt Buildings we offer 10 non-funded 1-week mini pupillages each year, to take place during Easter and summer. They are non-assessed and are designed to provide insight into life at the Bar. Mini pupils are assigned to an individual barrister and spend the week attending court hearings and case conferences (in an observational role), reading sets of case papers and where possible, discussing key issues with the barrister involved in the case. Confidentiality must be maintained both during and after the mini pupillage. Due to the nature of the work handled in Chambers, applications will not be considered from those aged under 18 years old.

Applications for any given year should be sent by email for the attention of Vicky Beasley, Chambers’ Administrator, to arrive by 31st January for Easter mini pupillages and 30th April for summer mini pupillages. Applications should be made by way of an application form which may be downloaded from Chambers’ website or requested from Vicky Beasley. Any dates to avoid during Easter or July and August as applicable should be made clear on the form.

Applications will be acknowledged in writing shortly after receipt. All applications will be considered competitively against each other in February / May for Easter / summer respectively, and applicants will be notified in writing whether they have been successful or not by late February / late May. Applications will be judged on merit, but particular weight will be given to academic qualifications and reasons for pursuing a career at the Bar. Successful applicants will also be notified of the date of their mini pupillage and the arrangements for the week.

Two Harcourt Buildings is committed to an Equal Opportunities policy which ensures an absence of direct or indirect discrimination against any candidate on grounds of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, nationality, citizenship, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, religion or political persuasion.
